Is there GUI frontend for this? Or I have to run thought process like http://advosys.ca/viewpoints/2007/04/setting-up-software-raid-in-ubuntu-server/ ??

I am not aware of any graphical front-end for mdadm. Once you set it up, you just leave it. It should be stable even across distribution upgrades. My software RAID5 stayed intact from Gutsy to Hardy.
