I realize that there is an overwhelming amount of issues running around here, but any help would be appreciated. I'm a newbie so forgive me.
I just recently reformatted my hard drive and installed xp, soon after hardy heron came out so I decided to install that as well. I've split my 500gb hard drive into two partitions one for windows, and one for linux, and I also have another hard drive that I use solely for media.
The problem is when I start my computer the dual boot program (grub it's called?) doesn't load, instead windows loads up as if ubuntu had never existed. I've looked around the forums, and there are talks of re-installing grub, and doing some other things but I'm not sure of anything.
Here's any relevant information that may help:
Specs:
Microsoft Windows XP
Ubuntu Hardy Heron
Intel DR33TL Motherboard
Intel Q6600 Processor
4GB DDR-800
1 x 500GB
1 x 120GB
No Graphics card.. (for now :P)
sudo fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x7ee57ee5
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 14593 117218241 7 HPFS/NTFS
Disk /dev/sdb: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x2cda2cd9
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 * 1 30862 247898983+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sdb2 30863 60801 240485017+ 5 Extended
/dev/sdb5 30863 59582 230693368+ 83 Linux
/dev/sdb6 59583 60801 9791586 82 Linux swap / Solaris
Thank-you! (I got the above information through the LiveCD don't know if it is still relevant..)
