I did a quick search in the forums and didn't see this question out there if it is please just point me to the thread. I have been running 7.10 just fine. After I upgraded to 8.04 my hard drive is running all the time even when my laptop is just sitting there. It is a Dell Latitude D600. Any body have any ideas as to why it would just start this after the upgrade.

Thank for any help you can give.

See if tracker search is enabled.

If you are talking about the tracker preferences under the system menu. They were turned on. I uncheck the all the option in the tabs didn't really seem to make a difference.

Go to the searching and indexing and disable indexing and watching. If that did nothing its another problem. What is running currently?

That is what I had done. I found it. When hunting around in htop to find that info for you I found out that it was my mythtv backend I had install that was doing it. As soon as I killed that my hard drive light is not flashing any more. Strange that it didn't do that in 7.10. But anyway that for helping my figure that out.

No problem, good job with the resolution.
