Howdy all,

I've been running gutsy on my laptop for months now and decided to bite the bullet and move my desktop over to ubuntu...

It's an AMD 64 system with 2GB ram and a GeForce 8600 graphics card. I'm installing to a single 120GB SATA drive, there's another 250GB one in there as well but no RAID setup.

I had a few issues with the hardy installer and live CD freezing so tried the alternate CD. Install went fine and machine booted. Got to desktop where it froze, no mouse or KB and the KB lights are sitting there merrily blinking on and off...

After a reboot things working ok for about 3 or 4 minutes when the same problem occured.

Any thoughts gratefully recieved.

Did you check the integrity of your Ubuntu CD by running the verification function that is found on the initial Ubuntu boot screen menu ?

Yes I did, no problems found.
