I don't use pirated software...of course now there's no need to with Ubuntu, although I've been guilty of it in the past. This organization brings to mind the old Soviet regime and Hitler's Germany, where citizens spied on eachother for the government and no one knew who to trust!

Do you think it's kind of creepy or is it a good thing??

Good thing!

KACHING! We are both 1m$ richer.

1 problem though: the US$ as is is not worth much :lolflag:

Creepy, ofcourse!

It reminds me of the Stasi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stasi) (the secret police in East Germany). If you don't like someone, just tell the Stasi and soon they'll disappear mysteriously...

KACHING! We are both 1m$ richer.
And you'll both be in jail too... Why not just rob a bank together with your neighbour? KACHING! You'll both be 1m$ richer...

This kind of advertising has been going on in India for years now; every local computer support company reports on all the others (A chap sits by the phone with Yellow pages, and keeps calling the toll-free number). Neither see any further action.

I doubt they mean home users by this.

More likely they are looking for mid to big companies.

So if you are working in one that uses pirated software :

I would rat them out in a second btw.

I never liked Godwins law, in fact I think he only came up with it because Godwin himself was a part of that said party his "law" is against.

Nothing promotes the concept of being a good neighbor better than a "neighborhood watch"

Yeah, you're right. Just imagine what the OP may have found out if only they read! The BSA stands for the Business Software Alliance. It's sole focus regarding receiving piracy reports is for organizations using pirated software.

The reward only applies to reporting businesses that use pirated software and also, it's "up to" $1 Mill. From what I've read, the typical payout for the reporter is under $100,000 (still a decent chunk of change).

Gotta follow my old suspicions on this one -- follow the money!! Where is the payout coming from? Who is behind this? There claims that pirated software cost people more money in all cases are similar to the mpaa. Gotta remember that although some may use pirated software, if they had to pay for it, many probably wouldn't be using the specific software and rather stick with what they have.
