When i try to install ubuntu on my athlon 64 desktop, it freezes after it starts up the partition manager. i never see the manager, it just does the loading for it, that disappears, and im left with a freeze until i do a manual reboot. i checked the cd for errors, no problems. any ideas?

If you don't try to install but just enter live mode does it freeze?

What is your drives' structure? (raid/sata?how many?partitions?)

i didnt set up the raid am not that familiar with it, but from the bootup it looks like i have

raid 0 striped

I have 3 drives, c,d, and x.

in hardware profiles in windows it says
Name | Type | Location
maxtor 6H500FO | Disk drives | location 0 (Secondary ATA Channel)
NVIDIA STRIPE 149.06G | Disk drives | on NVIDIA nForce RAID Class Controller

so it looks like i have raid0 between c and d, and x on secondary ATA

Trying the alternate install cd... saw somewhere that this worked for some people.

And it crashes after I choose time zone on the alternate install, freezes at a blue screen. :(
