View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 Kernal panic

i downloaded and burned the 8.04 ubuntu live cd and when i attempt to boot into live mode it come up and says kernal panic syncing attempting to kill init
if i just try to install it come up and says error time out =128 and freezes there any suggestions to a solution?

hmmm....might be stupid but did you try to Checksum the CD you got?

after four installs of 7.10, and one install of 8.04, i never did encounter this.

That'll almost certainly be a bad burn. Try the integrity check on the menu as it starts up.

If it fails, then you need to check if your download was bad or the burn just went bad. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

If its the burn process, try again at the lowest speed it will let you.
