I have A Dell Inspirion 530 Desktop with a Intel Petium dual-core processor E2160 and 2 GB of memory. The video card is a nVidia GeGorce 8600GT.

I cannot install Ubuntu 8.04 on this computer. The install disk boots ups and runs normally until I get this message: Busybox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5unbutu12) Built-in shell (ash). This seems to be problem related to Dell computers.

Your help will be appreciated.

I am having the same problem with the same machine.

I have tried the windows install with both kubuntu and ubuntu. Kubuntu installed into my old emachine without any problem.

Neither of the below links appear relevant.

Have you tried the Alternate CD?
