View Full Version : [ubuntu] University Wi-Fi

Hi everybody, I'm new to Ubuntu and still on a transitory phase.
I know I'm probably going to ask a dumb question but I hope you find some time to answer, since I haven't found a satisfactory answer in the search field.
I'm a student and my university provides free wireless for it's students. The question is that it's not like a normal wireless network. It does not only requires a password, but also a username at the time of the connection. The thing is that I can only find the password input, and don't seem to have a place to insert the username.
What is the solution in this cases?
Thank you for your answers in advance and thank you for your time and patience.

I would assume that your connecting using the wrong type of encryption. I would check to see what the university uses (Such as WPA enterprise) and setup the connection manually.

if you set the security for "WPA Enterprise" you can enter the necessary info as well as certificates which you need at the uni im going to.
Ive spent most of the day looking into whether I will need to hold onto vista or can connect without it... looks like I can
