I have only recently started to try Ubuntu and installed Hardy dual boot on my laptop a couple of weeks ago. My desktop runs xp only and is configured to share files. The dual boot xp on my laptop can access all the shared files - so all that bit works ok.
But how do I set up Hardy to see the xp files on the desktop. Administration > Network Tools > Traceroute shows the desktop ok. When I go to Places > Network there is a Windows service shown which has a "Workgroup" but not the desktop as set up in xp.
Obviously Hardy sees the desktop in some way. How do I get to access the files.
I have read a number of articles on this and other forums but can't get a handle on what is needed.
Any help would be very gratefully received.

Typing in a location gives the message that the computer could not be found.
