I recall a forum dedicated to suggestions for Linux and Ubunto improvements. I cannot seem to find it, or maybe it was somewhere else. If there is a better place for this, please tell me.

Subject:
The low level of control for mass storage devices should be moved out of the OS and onto the storage devices themselves. This would relive the OS of a huge amount of processing. It would also enable the movement of mass storage devices from one platform to another with absolutley no detectable difference by the users.

I have gone overboard and written a significant web page on this topic here: http://www.bkelly.ws/software/os_and_hard_drive.html

This is a long term concept, but there is a much better chance of Linux leading the way rather than Microsoft. Let me know what you think.
