password for hardware drivers installlation not recognized

Hello, I just installed for dual boot Ubuntu 8.04 on my XP machine.

I have a username and password to login, it works. But when I want to do "administration-->hardware drivers", i've been asked my password, but it is not recognized :confused:. Where am I wrong here?

It seems that somehow you are not being recognized as a member of the admin group. please check this by posting the output of this command:
