I have a old Gateway 733 for the kids I installed Edubuntu. I want to upgrade the video card to one that will have the necessary support (OpenGL) for the many games that are available. The integrated Intel graphics chipset doesn't have the support. The kicker is that I want a cheap card. I have seen several pci cards on newegg for under $40 but I don't know if there is linux driver support. Again this is the kids computer, nothing fancy, just one to get the job done on the cheap.

Recommendations anyone???

Thanks.

You'll do fine with an Nvidia 7600 GS or GT.

Does the manufacturer of the card make any difference in to a Linux driver? As long as the chipset is Nvidia it doen't make any difference who makes it? Is there a listing somewhere of the supported chipsets? Thanks.
