I'm tired of this, which NVIDIA add/remove driver do I get?

I don't know, but I'd be interested since my 7100GS doesn't work either.

I've been installing Ubuntu for years, and my experience is that while the 'working installs' get better and better, they also get fewer and fewer. As far as bug free installs go, 6.04 was the pinnacle for me and each subsequent release has been more frustrating. Its extremely disappointing to have such serious problems with 8.04, especially considering my current PC is the most mainstream hardware yet (Asus P5K Pro MB, Nvidia 7100 GS VC).

I love the free software community, but it does mean that people work on 'you beaut' features that excite them rather than tracking down annoying bugs on someone else's hardware.
