At first when I would boot up I got a blank desktop after login screen. Now my monitor says I "Cannot Display This Monitor Mode." I'm using LILO instead of Grub (for some reason Grub didn't like the Optiplex 320). I know that the server is up and running because I can access the MediaWiki pages that the server is hosting.
I'm looking for a way to force Lilo to boot into a terminal instead of right into the half-installed Hardy Desktop...hopefully from a terminal I can run an apt-get ubuntu-desktop and force a reinstall.
Does anyone know how to get it to boot to a terminal before trying to load the desktop? I couldn't find anything about lilo boot arguments OR know a better way to force a reinstall of the desktop?
