[SOLVED] stupid firefox 3

Hi guys,
I recently re-installed ubuntu from 7.10 to 8.04 because of the updated wireless manager. I used version one of the newest versions of firefox and loved it. (wasn't beta 3) I am using 3.0 beta 5 and hate it. I have tried using the synaptic package manager to uninstall firefox 3 and install a version of 2.0 and 3.0 beta won't uninstall. Can anyone tell me the terminal commands or a way of uninstall 3.0 and install the newest 2.0 version. My 3.0 keeps going unresponsive for 5-10 seconds every time I load a new web page. I bet you all feel the annoyance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might want to try this:
sudo aptitude install firefox-2
This gives you an option to have both and use whatever you choose.
