Please help! I did an update today it asked to put in the ubuntu 8.04 disk which I did and it did an update. Now my desktop is gone, with all the icons and shortcuts, and I no longer have wireless. There is no network icon in the system tray, and I can't find how to get one back. I am not even sure if I am using gutsy or hardy. What can I do? Fortunately my eiternet connection works without a problem. When I used the Hardy live dvd there was no wireless on bootup, but I could configure it to get it working. Now there is nothing to work with. It is like the wireless is disabled. I also noticed that my desktop is there, but invisible. It is like there is another desktop on top of it. I can not use nautilus to view my file/folders.
Thanks,
