Hi folks!
I REALLY want to upgrade to hardy but I have a Compaq 5305 laptop and it took a bit of time to get things working in Gutsy. It runs absolutely great now, but it was a good amount of effort to get it to this point. An example of this is the stupid and horrific broadcom BC4318 internal wireless. *wow* that thing is not friendly. :)
What I want to know is this - If I use the live cd, will it give me a true indication of whether or not things will work in that environment, or does it simply use the drivers that Gutsy is using? I know this probably isn't coming out right, but if the network card is working in Hardy using the live cd, is it because Hardy is driving it or because Gutsy is driving it?
Thanks for your time.

when you run the computer from a cd, you are doing just that. and the hard drive is not involved. but keep in mind, there have been posts in the past where everything seemed fine from the live cd. but after the install, problems. the point is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
