I use this program as it works for EXT2/3.

Works with both XP and Vista. It has only read capability. There might be some packages that give you read/write capability.

Thanks for advice,

I'm sorrry for asking questions not related to this forum, but in order to follow the advice given I must:

Assign (Windows Vista ) drive letters to the Linux partitions.

how do I do this?

The Linux partitions don't show up at all in Windows Vista "Computer". If I choose computer > manage > disk-handling, then I can see the Ubuntu partitions but I can't assign drive letters.
