Hi

I am trying to install Hardy Heron (Alternate CD) on my HP 6720s laptop (Vista installed) since 24hrs without any success.

I get the screen with options to Install, check the CD etc.

When I select Install, it says loading kernel and the screen goes blank and remains that way.

I tried changing the options by hitting F6. I tried nosplash and other options mentioned in some posts but all these result in the same blank screen.

The CD is error free because I can get it to work on my PC without any issues.

Am I missing something here? Any help would be appreciated.

I have HP 6720s and I didn't have any problems with Hardy installation. I wasn't using the alternate cd though. I have no idea where can be the problem, I just wanted to say that Hardy is working fine on HP 6720s. Maybe you can try normal installation, not the alternate cd. Good luck

Burn a new CD. Download a new iso if you want. Follow this guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto?highlight=%28burn%29%7C%28
Do md5sum on iso, burn at 4x or less on CD-R of good quality, check CD integrity before install.

but the current iso passed the md5sum test, and its working on my PC.

On the laptop, even when I try to do the integrity check, I get a blank screen and nothing happens.

I ran the integrity check on my PC and it's successful.
