View Full Version : [ubuntu] Gutsy Gibbon Lockup

I had no functionality no key combinations worked, and though the mouse would move nothing responded. My IDE light was flashing in a repettitive pattern, and so I had to restart. Checking the Log I see nothing over the space of time the machine was locked up.

May 7 01:33:11 syslogd 1.4.1#21ubuntu3: restart.

Any ideas?

Likely a failing HDD.

Brand new HDD, for the moment I'm discounting that as a possibility, though anything is possible. Any other ideas?

May have been trackerd running indexing. It tends to seize the resources. Or misbehaving app like Firefox. Or you installed some apt that included "Beagle."

Beagle instantly indexes documents on Linux systems equipped with inotify.Only not so instantly...
