I'm trying to install Ubuntu on an old laptop and it just won't go! It loads up the initial screen but ignores any attempt I make to actually install it! If I hit enter when highlighting the 'Install Ubuntu" selection, nothing happens.. I can move up and down the menu, check for defects, test memory etc... just can't get it to actually do the install!!

I've burned the disk a couple times and each one does the same thing... XP installs fine on the machine..

Odd..

Any ideas?

Graphics?

Not sure of the make of the graphics card. It is built in. The system has a non-partitioned HD that has been wiped and verified as good.
It can do graphics up to 1024x768.. Possible a S3 Inc. VT8636A

Here are the specs for the whole system..
