Search Gnome-Look for any of the following:

Slickness (and its black variant)
Neutronium Deepblack
Technix
Black Plastic

Or do what I did: take clearlooks or Aurora and edit the colors to your liking. SOffice Clearlooks Compact works well.

did you install the icons (http://gnome-look.org/content/download.php?content=72619&id=6&tan=65823870)? if so go to appearances> themes> customize> icons then select black and white

WHy not just go with the Ubuntu-Satanic (http://ubuntusatanic.org/news/) theme thing. Very easy to install, and it's very dark.

thats perfect, exactly what i was looking for. but why do i have the green guy running logout icon? shouldnt it be a door? or the power button? and my folders look like the the regular old folders, shouldnt they be different?

i think im going to give ubuntustudio the distro a try actually. it would be pretty useful to me.
