Hi. I downloaded the new version of Ubuntu (I had already 7.10) the installation process went without a hitch, but after restart things went wrong. I got as far as the login screen, but Ubuntu wont accept all letters and numbers of the keyboard! Meaning I cant type my ID or password. Is there a way to reverse to the 7.10 back, or reinstall the whole Ubuntu from scratches? None of the Ubuntu versions in Grub wont work... :( My prob is I have had my hard drive partitioned in 3 parts: Windows 2k, Ubuntu and one partition for all photos, mp3 etc - and I dont want to loose this partitioning!... Help please.

Do you have an USB keyboard?

What happens if you boot the live CD? Or maybe boot with other live linux CDs?

Once you do that and if your keyboard works at that point you can mount your drive and look at the log (/var/log/messages) to see what the problem might be / if it finds your keyboard.

Is it possible to plug in a regular keyboard if you have a special one?

Hi & thanks for your replies. Its an Acer Travelmate laptop, so no separate keyboard.
