hello, so i've had issues trying to install *buntu/debian systems in this toshiba satellite 2805-s202. i think the last one that worked for me was the 7.04 releases, but since then when i use the live cd's it always hangs in the bootsplash, except for 7.10 i think where it would boot and log into the livecd but from the boot to the desktop it acted as if it was in slow motion. so 8.04 is no different, so i guess what im looking for is maybe some kernel boot parameters i could try to hopefully get to the desktop of the live cd, the alternate cd is out of the question since the cdrom has become very picky as to when (if at all) likes to work. this are the specs of it:

thx...

Without a good CD Drive you cannot expect a good installation. Clean the lens or change it. Otherwise you could use unetbootin:

thx, i think ill try that unetbootin... btw, how would i go about replacing the lens, is that like a universal part or something sold specifically for a drive, cause im not looking to spend much on this dying laptop.

All you have to do is clean it. You can go to a Computer Shop and get a Cleaning Disk.
