Someone I know has a computer that does not have an AGP or PCI-E slot, so we're wanting to do a video card upgrade with a plain old PCI card. He's not a gamer at all, and 3D graphics do not matter. All that matters is that the card supports dual VGA out.

Anyone have a recommendation for one that's cheap but will do the job we need?

How about a Matrox Millenium card? The Matrox Millennium G550 Dual VGA is about $90 (as listed on google) and works in Linux.

I quick look at newegg and I would recommend something like this:

One of the commentors says that it works perfectly in linux.

This looks more like what I'm trying to find, but I was wondering about the cards that are cheaper than that.

I've seen some Radeon 7000 going for about 30 bucks or so. I guess what I'm wondering about is.... are all cards with two VGA outputs also dual monitor, or are some cheap ones only capable of one stream from only one port at a time. My worry is that I get one that looks like it's a dual monitor card, but will only support one.

first of all you want to get nvidia not ati. So I went into advanced search and seleted: Nvidia, PCI, 2 D-sub ports (VGA). This was one of the cheaper cards that was also highly rated.
