Software equivalence for ex-Dark Side Junkie

(Please correct me if this is the wrong forum.)
I am not having much trouble finding replacements for my former Windows apps. One that I liked a lot was/is Infoselect, a free-form note keeper. Easy search for text anywhere in note. Before resorting to running it in a virtual Windows environment, I thought I would seek a reasonable replacement. I currently have 1680 notes exported into a text file that I would like to read into some linux "personal assistant manager". Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. JL

Another option is to use wine to install infoselect

I have a coworker who is a big fan of infoselect. I'm not sure there is a direct equivalent. Take a look at things like "tomboy", or try out one of the wikiwiki engines. Places like Choosing A Wiki (http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?ChoosingaWiki) can offer some advice. To replace infoselect you'd presumably want something with good search and low setup and administration costs.

Infoselect began as Tornado Notes decades ago. Very fast, free form database. It has become a bit bloated in recent years, but is still a very useful tool. However, I feel myself being "deconverted" and want to re"gnu" myself. :-)
