David Airlie has found a bug in the Mesa R300 DRI driver and has committed a patch (containing just three new lines of code and one line removal) correcting this issue.

RS480 = Radeon Xpress 200M (and possibly its brother, the Radeon Xpress 1100)
Think we can get a backport to Hardy when this fix is pushed? I'll gladly go with the FOSS drivers when desktop effects are possible.
