Hello, new Ubuntu user here

So sound in ubuntu (hardy) works fine for me. Video, etc, all great. I go into skype, and after some fracking around, it works great too. I press " test sound" and i hear the beeeeeeeeeeeee-woop! just fine. I call a friend, and they can hear me just fine too

but i can't hear theem.

I'mtotally confused. Why can i not hear my friend talk through skype, if i can hear a skype audio test?

First of all, make sure no sound channels are muted. Also check which channels Skype uses. On my desktop, I have two soundcards, it took a while to figure out which one I needed (only one channel worked).

it's fake. if in ALL other programms sound good, but only in skype he is terrible - this is no a problem of sound config in system
