I just upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. By formating and reinstalling a fresh installation.
One of the problems i have been having is that i cant enable the desktop effects.
They worked perfectly fine on 7.10. All the compiz effects worked.
The effects arent necessary but they are quite nice to show off for friends that thinks the vista effects are awesome :)

I did not install any special drivers in the 7.10. It just worked instantly.

I have a compaq laptop, model nx7010.
With the Radeon Mobility 9200 Pro 64MB graphics card.
Does anyone have any idea of what the problem is?
Thx

In the meantime have you tried installing your accelerated drivers with envy if you have ati or nvidia graphic card? worked well for me. I have dual screen 1680x1050 with compiz enabled on nvidia 7600 gt
