Hello,
this is my first try at installing ubuntu. I'm trying to install on an old laptop. Using the alternate cd (both 7.1 and 8.04) i was able to launch the install process by setting the noacpm and acpi=force options. But the system reboots after a short while with the following message:
checking if image is initramfs...it isn't (bad gzip magic numbers); looks like an initrd
Any idea on the issue ? Thanks,
