Before I install Ubuntu, I'm given a choice when I run the CD from Windows. It says I can do a full installation, however when I tried that, I had not choice of which OS to run at bootup.

The other option is installing inside Windows. It says I can dual boot with this option, however disk performance will be degraded.

Can I (and if so, how do I) do a full install and still dual boot?

To do a full install and dual-boot with windows, you have to boot the CD, so go into your bios and set the CD as the first boot device. Boot up with the cd in the drive, then select you language and choose "Install Ubuntu" and follow the on-screen directions.

Installing in Windows with wubi is nice, and still pretty fast. To dual boot you need to partition your harddrive so you can have both os, and then it will install grub loader to boot both. I believe by default it does this automatically (if possible).

That's what I did this morning. It made a separate partition for Ubuntu, then when I would boot the PC, it would go straight to Windows with no option for dual booting.

I'll try again. Pretty much planned on this being my project for today. Thanks.
