View Full Version : [all variants] Xorg problems on Dell D630

May 3rd, 2008, 08:17 PM
During network upgrading my Dell D630 from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 my notebook did not proceed during configuration.
After reboot I forced the system to complete upgrading.
Now I'm encountering at least two problems, with Xorg:

1) the system doesn't recognize video during normal boot. Once booting using recovery procedure, I can fix card recognition (choosing automatic configutation), then successfully resume normal Xwindows start-up. xorg.conf is included here. Checking /etc/X11/xorg.conf it is clear that video driver is missing but I don't know how to fix it, in fact the file generated by automatic configuration works fine but it is with without driver, too.

2) Using my usual optical mouse (Saitek PM11A) it doesn't work correctly.
My secondary optical mouse (and old Logitech) works fine.

3) While now -) external Mic works fine, nternal mic doesn't: any successful tested workaround?

# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
