I am posting this in case anyone else runs into the problem. It is fixed for me now :)
Sometime last week, my File Browser windows stopped working. I can try to open the window, but all I get is a blank window as if it's not painting properly or is just hung. If I close the window, I get the Force Quit prompt, and a new, broken, nautilus window is spawned. I tried deleting the ~/.nautilus directory, and the problem was still there. I had to delete ~/.nautilus/metafiles in order to get the windows to open up properly again.
