I have not seen this done before and was just wondering as i have just did a google search and found loads of tv software out there.

what tv software do you all use and why?

i will start.

i use tvtime because the picture quality is really good and mythtv for its pvr features. mainly use tvtime though as i am not that bothered about pvr facilities.

I found Kaffeine to be the easiest to setup and use for DVB-T. I've tried MythTV/Mythbuntu a couple of times now and it's waaaaaaaay to complicated and overloaded with features.

I'm going to try this pretty soon.

My AIW has no support, so I don't use any TV programs with it... Instead I use a TV.

MythTV. I can't stand commercials. Mythbuntu makes it a snap to set up provided you have supported hardware.

TV-time was great when I had my leadtek software-based tv-tuner. It was fast, light, and the picture quality was outstanding. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with my PVR-150...oh well.

Supported software? I've never been able to get it to tune the channels properly.

oops. typo. should have said "supported hardware"

The hauppauge pvr 150 works out-of-the-box with mythbuntu.

Kaffeine. Simply the easiest and stable app for DVB. Well sometimes I use mplayer via CLI withot X (because it is so cool ;)).
For record encodings I use scripts that use mencoder (x264), oggenc and package stuff with mkvmerge.
