View Full Version : [ubuntu] Intel Netport Express Print Server Setup

May 3rd, 2008, 10:27 AM

I have an old Intel Netport Express Pro print server. It's on my home network that runs Win98 dual-booted with Ubuntu 6.1. My network uses only static IP addresses. The print server is connected to a HP LaserJet 6p. I have managed to setup the print server on the windows side. I am not sure how to setup printing with Ubuntu.

The print server is too old to know about Linux, but the instructions do talk about Unix. Specifically proprint, lpr, lpd and ftp. The Unix setup instructions start on page 19 of the set up manual at this link.

How should I go about setting up Ubuntu to work with the Netport Express print server?

I don't mean to appear cheeky, please don't take it that way but have you tried following those instructions and if so where did it fail?

No I haven't tried following the instructions because I thought they are so old, I didn't think they would work.

I going away for a couple of weeks, so I will give them a go when I return.
