Hello:

If anyone wanted another reason to abandon MicroSoft and switch to Linux, they only have to look at MS latest attempt to sabotage SP3 - its OWN update of XP - by delaying its release because of the general crappiness of Vista even after its own SP1 update was released this week!

Sadly, us dual-booters still have to put up with this kind of appalling behavior. My question is has anyone downloaded SP3 already and has it caused any problems for dual booters? I ask because when I downloaded SP3 RC edition about a month ago it corrupted my Ubuntu partition and I had to reinstall everything!

Thanks!

I tried to install SP3 a couple of weeks ago. It crashed halfway through and left my Windows install in an unbootable and unrepairable state. Had to do a full reinstall.

It didn't touch any of my other partitions, luckily.

I installed it today. First it extracts the installation files to my Ubuntu Partition. I mean it's a WINDOWS update for crying out loud!

I cannot even boot my Windows XP now.

It's pathetic.

BTW: I installed the Full installer, I don't know about the one from Windows Update.
