I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 on a test machine which worked fine but when I installed my home machine Gnome stopped working. Whenever I log into Gnome, all I get is a brown background and a mouse pointer and nothing else. I reinstalled the nvidia driver and nvidia-glx-new package but it still does not work.
KDE loads and works but Gnome still does not load. Any suggestions on what to do?
