Ubuntu Desktop Background

Ubuntu 7.04

When I right click on the desktop / change desktop background, a small window comes up where all the backgrounds I have added are shown.

But I have a lot of backgrounds that I want to add and I don't want to add them one by one. Is there a way I can add a whole folder ?

Multiple select them - click once on the first one, hold shift and click on the last one, done.

But it doesn't work for removing them, says he who has just tested his recommendation!
