I just upgraded to Hardy from Gutsy and lost the comfortable experience I once had. Everything worked fine in Gutsy (after much work), but now the GUI is horribly sluggish. I used fglrx drivers in gutsy, but seem to be trapped under mesa in hardy.
Another odd finding, System -> Preferences -> Screen Resolution gives me an odd error: "The X Server does not support the XRandR extension. . ."
I don't even know what XRandR is.
Going to System -> Administration -> Screens and Graphics and selecting fglrx or anything else will cause a crash upon login and requires me to restore a .bak of xorg.conf. Please give me any ideas you have.
