So, my sound doesn't work in Ubuntu Hardy. It seems to be the new hot trend these days. I've scoured the forums for almost a week now, and I've tried everything. I've switch from 386 to generic kernel, reinstalled both, installed linux modules for both, deleted and reinstalled alsa, rebuilt alsa from source, ran sudo pkill pulseaudio. Nothing has worked. The computer detects my sound card with no problem, the system recognizes it, has the right name for it, and there aren't even any errors. I just flat don't have sound. WTF?!? I'm at my wits' end!

Here's the output from aplay -l

You could try the pulseaudio configuration utility some guy wrote: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=759147&highlight=pulseaudio
