Hey y'all

I'm looking for a USB infra red receiver to use on my mac mini, running debian (will soon be migrated to ubuntu 8.04). It's al old G4 mac mini, so there is no IR receiver built-in like the new ones.

I have a remote control with my TV that can send codes from Philips, and many other brands. So the more codes the IR receivercan receive, the better. The IR receiver has to work with lirc, and be USB since that's all the ports I have on the mac mini.

So any suggestion that fits the above criterii is welcome. If you have a link to the products you're suggesting, it's even better.

Thanks y'all

Of course I had read that site before posting (specifically http://www.lirc.org/html/table.html#@hw-usb)

But to be honest I can't figure out in that list what's a blaster, what's a standalone receiver, what's a receiver but part of a sound or video or tuner card... It also doesn't say if the receiver works with many remotes or just the one that is made by the same manufacturer (typical of Hauppauge receivers, for example...)

Hence my call for a bit of assistance... In case someone has already a simple USB IR receiver, or has tested one, etc...

I checked a bit on eBay with the names found on the page I linked to(the list of USB devices), and I found that some are sound USB cards... Also, I couldn't find info on many of them, neither through google nor through eBay...

Anyway, I purchased a cheap Windows MCE remote on eBay HK. Crossing my fingers that it'll work with something else than the remote it comes with...
