adding xerces to build path in eclipse project

does this work the same way in linux as it does in *******? Do I need to have the jar file added to my build path?

what is the default directory when installing xerces? when I type
xalan -v on the console,
I get this:


Xalan version 1.10.0
Xerces version 2.7.0
