I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 LTS.
After the upgrade when i try to logout, restart, shutdown the system freezes after the gnome panels disappear.
To get back to the login page if I want to use a different GUI or restart/shutdown, I have to (ctrl) (alt) (bkspc) which shutsdown teh x server. This works but I'd rather not do this.
1 -- HAL seems to work when I insert a USB flash.
2 -- Xorg seems to work with my ati (the fps associated with my pci express ati card is within specs) Video quality has been degraded
3 -- There was a problem where the install overwrote my hosts file but I corrected this
I saw somewhere that keyboard errors could cause this but I'm dubious about that comment.
Please help.
