The default Volume Control 2.22.0 mixer app that gnome pops up when you double click on the speaker in the tray, is acting very funny.
If you adjust any paired sliders while they are linked, they unlink, especially if you are near the minimum position , and especially if you move them fast, and the left hand one falls to zero.
This also happens when adjust the single slider that drops down from the speaker tray icon. It doesn't adjust smoothly, and when you check the mixer again, the paired master controls are unlinked, left hand one at zero.
My audio card is an Ensoniq AudioPCI (the model Creative bought and released as a Soundblaster at one point) if that matters.
