Also give osalt.com a try, it's more focussed on alternatives to Windows software.

I like the idea that people are looking for alternatives to OS X apps. It's not always about Windows.

I do have to wonder though, I thought the selling point of a Mac was the OS, surely if you boot it with something else it's become like any other computer (albeit one with good aesthetics).

Well I've tried mac on my pc and I love it. Like Ubuntu better though.
