I am trying to use Synaptic Package Manager. Also tried using Apt-get with the same results . The problem is I am not able to download anything. It just sits there waiting. Is the server having a problem. I thought maybe it's overloaded with everyone downloading 8.04. But I would think I would get at least 1kb/min download

Help !

Thanks, Mark

Go to:
System>Administration>Software Sources>Enable all your repos. (put a check on them.)

The US Ubuntu server does seem to be having problems. You can change to a different server in the Software Sources dialog (the "Download from" option). I don't recommend doing this unless you are on broadband, though, as you would have to refresh the package index (a 4MB+ file).
