I'm very anxious to upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy since Hardy fixes a couple of Gutsy bugs that drive me crazy. I downloaded the live CD to verify that everything works in Hardy. Now I'm ready to upgrade. My problem is that my ISP is clueless and imposes a severe 30-day rolling bandwidth quota. Downloading the live CD used most of my bandwidth, which will take 30 days to fully recharge. Given that I have two computers, that means two months before I'll be able to fully upgrade at that rate.

What I'd like to do is copy the packages off the live CD to either APT's cache or a local repository (which is already set up). Then, I want the upgrade tool to use those packages instead of downloading them. But the upgrade tool alters sources.list as part of its process. Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

By the way, it'll take me 30 days to get enough bandwidth to download the alternate install CD, so that really isn't a good option.
