Yes some of you may have seen my thread about DreamLinux and my praises. After a year of Ubuntu ithought it was time to change. I was wrong.

Well it's true DL is lighter and some cases. Faster.
But i can't get used to it. Somethings missing and i think its the Ubuntu spirit and community.

So I've decided to come back.
But, this is the but i left of. I dont want the bloat/excess junk.

I got Dream and it ran all my programs on 186MB, Ubuntu gets to 400MB + which shows bloat to me.

I've decided a command line install and planning a GUI after.
I've never done this and im a bit lost. Which programs will enable me a Gnome GUI? from there i'll be ok.

Yes guys i was wrong, Ubuntu rocks :guitar:

I've tried Xubuntu, didn't get on with it personally.
Idid find a few thing for Gnome, tweaks etc.

Ive installed Ubuntu command line only and now have the task of figuring a GUI =|

The meta packages xorg and gnome-core should give you a minimal gnome desktop.

After that, you might also want to install synaptic and gksu and firefox and gdm...

A minimal Ubuntu install is quite nice, I find. Not as fast as Arch though.

Just done that.
Very basic GUI :)
Not as light as DL though.

But time to configure! :D
