Hi,

I've done a clean install of Ubuntu 8.04 on my Acer TravelMate 4000 laptop (previously 7.10 had been installed and worked fine). The installation only worked if I used acpi=off (otherwise it would just freeze when you had to select the timezone). Installation seems fine. After logging in the Gnome desktop comes up, I see the that a wireless connection is being set-up and looks good. But ... after a few seconds everything freezes, completely dead. When I boot with acpi=off I do not get this behavior, but the wireless connection is only set-up after pushing the wireless device button on my laptop (very often and it still takes a few minutes). Also I cannot see my battery status and, of course, suspend does not work.

Anybody has an idea? Ubuntu 7.10 worked fine, so I hope that it will be possible to get 8.04 to work as well.
